Living in a terraced house in Harbourne Terry had longed for an interesting low maintenance garden space that matched his busy lifestyle; somewhere to come home to at night and sit with a glass of wine and relax after a hard day in the city.
This garden is long and thin, typical of the gardens in this area, where all you see is the bottom fencing. It was in need of some much needed TLC.
Working to a very strict budget, the garden was prepared to give a contemporary feel. Split into three areas; patio with water feature and barbecue area, lawn with borders and a top storage area with raised beds for growing fruit and vegetables.
Slatted screens were used to give divisions within the garden space, and also privacy from the neighbouring properties, running the length of the rear garden space as a boundary fence.
The old water tank from the long demolished greenhouse was refurbished into a contemporary bell fountain water feature and a pallet planter filled with herbs to eat now adorns the wall adjacent to the barbecue are
Sleek slate was used as the main patio along with low maintenance planting that included grasses, shrubs and firework herbaceous perennials, working in the much loved existing Magnolia and apple trees.
Now a space that’s interesting all year round, somewhere to relax, but also a place to grow your own.
