Patio Paradise

A Feeling of Space and Memories of Holidays

A small garden where a middle aged couple wanted to give a feeling of space and memories of holidays they had undertaken in south America and Cuba; particularly romantic meals in secluded patio courtyards.

They particularly enjoy their outside space and wanted areas creating for breakfast, dinning and to hold parties. The gentleman of the house loved his roses and these were to be included in any new design; the lady of the house enjoyed the wildlife that came into the garden and this also needed to be considered for the new design.
Patio Paradise

The garden created by Darren Rudge split the area into an upper and lower patio; the upper patio for breakfast and the lower patio for dinning out and parties.

A Limestone paving was used for this with the lower patio turned to a 45 degree angle to give a feeling of space. A raised bed was constructed using Bradstone pitched faced walling were the salvaged roses were replanted with an under-planting of Aubrietia and Thymus; the bed height was designed to be just tall enough to be perched upon, serving as additional seating for parties. Finally a rustic pergola was created towards the lower end of the garden which was clothed in sweet smelling Jasmine.

Patio Paradise

This design gives a clean low maintenance option adding a feeling of space for entertaining and relaxation; with a resin formed water feature and lighting the garden can be used to its fullest extent both day and night.
